English Premier League: Arsenal beat Norwich 4-1, ManU draw with Southampton
KINGSTON, Jamaica –Arsenal on Saturday extended their lead at the top of the English Premier League with a 4-1 defeat of Norwich while Manchester United drew 1-1 at home to Southampton and Newcastle held Liverpool 2-2.
Liverpool twice came back from a goal down but had to settle for a point against a resolute 10-man Newcastle.
Meanwhile Mesut Ozil scored twice in the second-half for the Gunners after Jack Wilshere opened the score in the 18th minute. Ozil scored his first in the 58th minute.
Jonny Howson pulled one back for Norwich with 20 minutes left but Aaron Ramsey scored his ninth goal of the season in the 83rd minute to make it 3-1 before Ozil grabbed an easy second in the 88th to seal victory over Norwich.
Manchester United dropped two points as Southampton scored a late equaliser to claim a dramatic draw at Old Trafford.
The hosts took a first-half lead when Robin van Persie followed up to score after Wayne Rooney’s effort had been blocked by goalkeeper Artur Boruc.
But their failure to kill the game off proved costly when Southampton grabbed a last-minute leveller with Dejan Lovren bundling in James Ward-Prowse’s corner.
