KIRKVINE, Manchester — Ben Francis Knockout champions St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) got their quest for the rural area double off to a good start yesterday, beating Christiana High 4-1 at the Kirkvine Sports Club in Manchester.

Khesanio Hall kept up his incredible scoring pace with a hat-trick and extended his streak of scoring in every game so far this season to lead the STETHS charge.

Donjay Smith, who also scored in Saturday’s Ben Francis KO final win over Manchester High, scored the other goal for STETHS.

Manchester High, meanwhile, were held to a 1-1 draw with Clarendon College in their game that was expected to be the feature clash of the day between two well-coached teams with title aspirations.

With that draw, Munro College took over the lead in the zone with a 3-0 win over Spalding High with goals from Fabian Murray in the 20th minute, Rushane Scarlett in the 45th, and Levar Dunchie in the 66th Minute.

Defending champions Glenmuir High were surprised 2-0 by Paul Bogle High and their title hopes are now hanging by a thread with just one team to advance from each of the eight groups.

Green Island were the only one of the four teams in the Inter-zone round for the first time to score a win, blanking Grange Hill 3-0 at Frome. Ackeem Williams, Leyton Galloway and Shane Ferlin were the scorers for Green Island.

Also at Frome, Godfrey Stewart High proved their Ben Francis KO win over former champions Rusea’s was not a fluke after beating them 2-1.

At Jarrett Park, William Knibb Memorial avenged their Ben Francis KO loss to Green Pond, beating them 3-1 with Hugh George Watson leading the way with a double, as Shannarie Brown put the icing on the cake, scoring the third goal in time added on.

Christopher Smith and Daniel Roberts each scored two goals, as Port Antonio romped to a big 7-0 win over St Mary Technical, the largest margin of victory on the day.

Neon Johnson scored for Lennon High in their 1-0 victory over B B Coke, as Imani Beckford also scored for Marcus Garvey Technical in their 1-0 win over Brimmervale High.

Holmwood Technical, one of two best third-placed teams, beat Happy Grove 2-1 with goals from Jevaughn Bailey and Jevaughn Davis, to join the other best third-placed team, Frome Technical, who had beaten Vere Technical 5-1 on Tuesday.
