Katy Perry roars past Justin Bieber to become most followed person on Twitter
Katy Perry has ended Justin Bieber’s reign as the most popular person on Twitter. The Roar hitmaker’s follower count surpassed those of the 20-year-old singer over the weekend and as of Monday Katy had 46,529,048 to Justin’s 46,507,582, with both rapidly rising. This comes just nine months after Justin took over the most-followed title from Lady Gaga, following a two-year stint at the top.
While Bieber is a prolific tweeter, Perry has revealed her ‘less is more’ motto where Twitter is concerned. ‘I’ve learned how to ride social media,’ she told USA Today. ‘I have horrible typos. I use “there” or “your” wrong grammatically. But I feel like I’ve learned how to tame that social media dragon.
Gaga still holds the number three slot, followed by President Barack Obama and Taylor Swift.

Former Balenciaga designer Nicolas Ghesquière replaces Marc Jacobs as Louis Vuitton’s artistic director
Louis Vuitton has named Nicolas Ghesquière as its new artistic director of women’s collections, effective immediately. After weeks of rumored reports, the French luxury firm confirmed that the designer, who abruptly left his role as artistic director at Balenciaga last November, will show his first collection next March.
Following his 15-year run at Balenciaga, Ghesquière, 42, told WWD: ‘Louis Vuitton has always incarnated for me the symbol of ultimate luxury, innovation and exploration. I am very honored of the mission that I am entrusted with, and proud to join the history of this great maison. We share common values and a vision’. Meanwhile Vuitton believe that Ghesquière, who was named as the head of Balenciaga in 1997 at the tender age of 25, will bring ‘a modern creative vision to the house’s women’s collections, building on the values of refinement, savoir faire and extreme quality.’
The designer succeeds Marc Jacobs, who presented his final collection for Louis Vuitton on October 2 at Paris Fashion Week, confirming reports that it would be his last show.

Rihanna makes chart history with Eminem as they score number one single
Rihanna and Eminem have scored this week’s number one single — leaving boy band One Direction trailing behind at number four with their new release. The Monster, aptly-titled for the week of Halloween, places Barbados-born singer Rihanna alongside The Beatles and Elvis Presley as one of just three acts to have hit the top spot in the singles chart seven times over seven consecutive years.
Her previous release with rapper Eminem, Love the Way You Lie, made it to number two in the charts back in 2010. The Monster, from The Marshall Mathers LP 2, is Eminem’s first number one hit since 2006, when he featured on Akon’s Smack That.
