Bullets cut down Smilers in women’s basketball
DEFENDING champions Waulgrovians Bullets defeated Braves Smilers 67-50 to chalk up their second win in as many starts in the 2013/2014 Jamaica Basketball Association (JABA) Women’s League competition at the Stadium Basketball Courts over the weekend.
The Bullets had won their opening game over St Elizabeth’s Unique Ballers 55-47.
The Bullets’ principal scorer were Angeline Latouche with 23 points and Oberon Pitterson-Nattie with 19 points, while for the Smilers Simone Jackson had a game-high 25 points.
For the Unique Ballers, Zandria Dell scored 18 points and five rebounds, and Loretta Gordon 13 points.
Meanwhile, the Smilers registered a close 64-61 win over Lady Panthers through Jackson with 23 points and Tamisha Smith with 17 points, while for the losers, the principal scorers were Shnell Moodie with 16 points, Ricalya Swaby 11 points and Nevene Powell with 11 points.
Panthers defeated Waulgrovians Clippets 48-61, with a game-high 25 points from Shastalee Smith, Moodie (19) and Onecia Smellie (16) for the winners. Shanice Williams got 19 for the losers.
