Last year, dancehall artiste Staggy YBC generated a buzz with 1 Campaign, a song that racked up more than 500,000 views on YouTube.

The song, according to the Westmoreland native, opened several doors for his emerging career, after making serious noise on the underground music scene.

“1 Campaign opened a lot of doors and producers and promoters started to reach out daily wanting to get work done,” said Staggy YBC.

To capitalise on the momentum, Staggy YBC in collaboration with producer Reign Records will release his newest single Winning on Friday.

Winning signals another collaboration with Reign Records, a musical relationship that has borne results.

“Reign Records is more than just a producer but family. Working with Reign Records is always a plus to success. We both have that work ethic and understanding of greatness that’s within us both,” Staggy YBC reasoned.

“Winning was inspired from my life journey surrounded by motivation and that drive that’s always destined to win my life is moving in that direction so winning is basically my life story,” said Staggy YBC, who also noted that mainstream success is something that he hopes to achieve. “Mainstream success is important to me to gain new listeners and supporters so I can keep spreading motivation to the world as my songs are based on real world situations talking about life and self-belief into people all over the universe.”

Staggy YBC has been doing music professionally for the past four years.

“I have always been driven by my friends who always motivate me to take music seriously. I did a few songs and the response from friends, associates and even strangers was surprisingly wonderful. I always knew that I was talented, but they’ve always pushed me, so it feels more like I am doing this for them,” Staggy YBC shared.

As the face of the YBC (Young Boy City)movement, Staggy YBC describes the mission as “young people dominating spaces, climbing to the pinnacle of success.

What began in schoolyards from Westmoreland to Montego Bay, has evolved into a dynamic music force resonating across Jamaica’s western end. With a calm yet confident energy, Staggy YBC credits his support system of family and friends for motivating him to launch his musical journey.

Among his other releases are Black Magic, Package, Heavyweight and Pot of Gold.

Set to premiere this Friday, the music video for Winning promises to elevate his profile even further, merging authentic storytelling with visual impact.
