She’s known for her edgy sense of style on and off the tennis court.

But Serena Wlliams was almost unrecognisable when she stepped onto the catwalk during a fashion show in Thailand on Friday wearing a very girly bubblegum silk dress.

The froufrou ensemble, which featured a frilled asymmetrical hemline, didn’t quite flatter her fit and fabulous figure with its halterneck cut and sweetheart bust line. Nonetheless, the 32-year-old US Open champion was a powerful force as she modelled for a celebrity fashion show held at the Inter Continental Hua Hin Resort near Bangkok. Serena’s pink creation was enhanced by a large gold necklace, chunky bracelets and heeled ankle boots that made the Grand Slam winner even taller. Renowned for her unique fashion, Serena first hit the headlines for her attire in 2002 when she wore a black lycra catsuit on the court at the US Open, and has since launched her own collections with both Nike and Puma. Williams’s recent victories in both the French and US Opens, as well as becoming the oldest number one in WTA rankings, won her the title of The Associated Press’ 2013 Female Athlete of the Year, it was revealed by ESPN last week.

47 Ronin poised to top list of 2013’s biggest box-office bombs

Keanu Reeves’ action film 47 Ronin is set to earn the dubious title of biggest box-office bomb of 2013. The big-budget period piece nabbed a mere $7 million at the domestic box office and a worldwide haul of a feeble $13.2 million.

The film, which first opened in Japan to a paltry $1.3-million take, was damaged by poor reviews and bad buzz in addition to an out-of-control budget.

Directed by commercial and music video guru Carl Rinsch in his feature film directorial debut, the Universal Pictures release was plagued with delays due to reshoots, which included a complete revamping of the film’s large action sequences. The production delays caused costs to skyrocket from its original budget of $175 million. According to many sources, the budget reached well above $200 million. If estimates are correct, 47 Ronin would need to bring in $500 million just to break even. The film was relying heavily on international audiences to carry the big-budget action epic to box-office glory, only to receive a lukewarm greeting at foreign markets.

Originally set for a November 21, 2012 release, 47 Ronin was pushed back to February 8 this year, to allow time for reshoots and work on the visual effects before it was pushed back even further to its Christmas 2013 opening.

Co-written by Chris Morgan and Hossein Amini, the film is based on Japanese mythology surrounding a group of 18th century samurai. The story follows the group of leaderless warriors (known as Ronin) as they plan their revenge against a court official in an effort to avenge their master. The box-office failure of the epic film places 47 Ronin among movies such as R I P D., Bullet to the Head, The Lone Ranger, Oldboy and The Fifth Estate as top box-office bombs of the year.

She’s one of the world’s most famous children and like many around the world this week, Honey Boo Boo, real name Alana Thompson, was spoilt rotten by her parents this Christmas.

The reality TV star who rose to fame on TLC’s reality series Toddlers and Tiaras, spent the festive period with her family in Disneyland, Florida.

Wearing a fluorescent orange T-shirt, the eight-year-old TV star looked pleased to be spending time with her mother Mama June and father, known as Sugar Bear.

The pageant queen kept her outfit simple in casual shorts and trainers with socks that matched her brightly-coloured T-shirt as she strolled around the amusement park. At one point the trio stopped to watch a show and Alana tucked into a pot of Minute Maid soft frozen lemonade as she was given a puff on her inhaler by her mother. The family rose to fame after standing out in TV show Toddlers & Tiaras; they now have their own show called Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, a show primarily filmed in and around their rural hometown of McIntyre, Georgia.
