MOH expresses concern about water quality in Hanover
LUCEA, Hanover — The Hanover Health Department has expressed concern over the quality of domestic water being supplied to sections of the parish.
“We continue to have concerns about water quality in the parish… the water that we consume,” stressed Dr Marcia Johnson-Campbell, the Medical Officer of Health (MOH) for the parish in her address to the recent regular monthly meeting of the Hanover Parish Council.
Johnson-Campbell said for the month of December, 51 water samples were collected for bacteriological analysis of which 16 came back positive for the presence of high levels of bacteria. The remaining 35, she added, came back negative or satisfactory.
The positive samples were found in several communities, including Shettleswood and Lethe, which are located in the Hanover Eastern constituency.
The MOH was also critical of the quality of water being trucked to the Upper Rock Spring All Age School in Western Hanover, noting that samples taken, also produced high levels of bacteria.
