Bail extended for attorney and three co-accused
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Fifty-five-year-old attorney-at-law Dawn Satterswaite along with three relatives of a convicted transnational drug trafficker had their bail extended until April 29, 2014 when they appeared in the Half-Way-Tree Criminal Court on Tuesday.
The other accused are 53-year-old Paulette Higgins of Norman Gardens, Kingston 2; 50-year-old Janet Ramsay of Bridgeport, Portmore in St Catherine; and 40-year-old Ann Marie Cleary of Woodlawn, Manchester.
Reports are that on December 17, 2013, pre-dawn operations were carried out by the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Task Force (MOCA) with the assistance of the Financial Investigation Division, Mobile Reserve, Anti-Corruption Branch, Organised Crime Investigation Division, and the St Catherine South and Area Three Police Divisions. The operations were conducted simultaneously in several parishes across the island.
Consequently, all four accused were arrested and charged for breaches under the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA), and taken to the Half-Way-Tree Criminal Court where they were each granted bail in the sum of $10 million each and instructed to surrendering all travel documents.
The four must also report to MOCA on Mondays between the hours of 7:00 am and 7:00 pm. However, Cleary, citing medical reasons, will report to the Porus Police Station in Manchester.
