Imperial showcases Dancehall knowledge
IMPERIAL the artiste formerly known as Alley Cat, is back on the music trail with the self-produced album Dancehall Knowledge, Volume 3.
The 13-track compilation, done for his Imperial Productions, includes songs like Days Like These, Be My Wife and Real Ghetto Story.
The deejay says he has not only had a name change but has matured, which can be heard in his songs.
“This album is more cultural and passionate. It appeals to everyone, there are even a few inspirational and gospel tracks,” said Imperial. “I have stayed true to form and delivered a product that I am confident the buying public will like.”
As Alley Cat, he was known for ’90s hits like Girls Tour and and Fresh Off The Block which was done on the Joyride riddim. He says his break from recording was deliberate.
“I took a leave of absence from the road for a while and went to school to study studio engineering and also learned to play the guitar. I gained a lot of hands-on experiences just by being an artiste and working with some of the best producers, engineers and promoters in the music business,” he said.
Imperial has also produced songs including Luciano’s Unite Jah People, Gentleman and Chrisinti’s Struggle and Faith and Macka Diamond’s Money Addiction.
