A meeting with Inner Circle band members in Florida last year, may already be paying dividends for deejay Khago.

The artiste is included on the group’s lastest single Good Girls N Bad Girls. Produced at Circle House Recording Studio in Florida, the three-week-old track also features Canadian rapper Kardinal Offishall.

“It can only do great things for my career. Jacob Miller… Inner Circle are music legend. A deh so mi wah my thing fi reach,” he told Splash.

Formed in Kingston in 1978, Inner Circle are synonymous with the South Florida’s reggae scene. Sweat and Bad Boys helped put the region on the radar in the early 1990s. Bad Boys, their 1993 album, won the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album the following year.

Khago said he has already ‘voiced’ nine tracks for the group and expects an album during the course of this year.

“Even the riddim dem different, some -mi wouldn’t waan sing pon normally. It is a learning thing from dem,” he continued.

Since working with Inner Circle, the deejay said he has met several international artistes including hip hop act Flo Rida and Stephen Marley.

Khago, whose given name is Ricardo Gayle, got his first taste of success in 2006 when he placed third in the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission’s Popular Song Contest with If you Know.

His 2010 breakout hit Nah Sell Out put him on the national radar. The following year, the Tun Up Di Thing singer was nominated for Best Reggae Act in the MOBO (Music Of Black Origin) Award.

He was also embroiled in several public squabbles with artistes including Sizzla Kalonji and Assassin (Agent Sasco), as well his management team. It was also reported he had received death threats.

Khago feels he has not been hampered by the negatives.

“Nuh hold back nuh deh deh. Me a tour the diaspora an people a show me love. We nuh have nuh time fi come stand up inna party,” he said.

He said he has a busy schedule with upcoming gigs in New York, North Carolina and Florida.

“Me a musician. Me nah listen to negativity, me juss a do music,” he said.
