Olympiacos 0-3 Panathinaikos
Olympiacos’ Michael Olaitan collapsed on the pitch as Panathinaikos ended the hosts’ 26-match unbeaten run with a 3-0 win in the Athens derby.
The midfielder fell to the ground unchallenged during the first half and received medical attention before carried off on a stretcher.
The 21-year-old, who was conscious as he left the pitch, was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for tests.
Panathinaikos manager Yiannis Anastasiou was hit in the face by a plastic cup during the second period as the home fans became increasingly frustrated with their club’s lacklustre performance.
Anastasiou went down clutching his face but remained in the dugout to watch Mehdi Abeid score late on to seal a convincing victory against their previously unbeaten local rivals.
Daniel Pranjic gave Panathinaikos the lead, calming slotting beyond Roberto Jiminez Gago and into the bottom corner just a minute before half-time.
Marcus Berg, creator of the first goal, then added a second after beating Olympiacos’ Avraam Papadopoulos to the ball and finishing calmly.
Michel’s men had a chance to get back into the game when they were awarded a penalty in the 78th minute but Alejandro Dominguez, who scored against Manchester United in midweek, fired his effort high and wide.
Abeid then added a third shortly before full-time when his free-kick from the left evaded everyone and dropped into the far corner of Roberto’s goal.
