Nationwide News CFO resigns after massive fraud at radio station
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The chief financial officer of Nationwide Radio on Tuesday resigned his post in the wake of a massive case of fraud uncovered at the station last month.
His resignation follows the dismissal and charging of accountant Dyan Johnson. Johnson has been charged with embezzlement and larceny as a servant.
She was offered J$100,000 bail and is to appear in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
The suspect reportedly admitted to taking $184,000 from the company.
Sources told OBSERVER ONLINE last month that between $1 million to $3 million was swindled over a one-year period, including the intake for the company’s recent 10K charity run.
The CFO has been with the radio station for a number of years but was promoted to the position last year in a restructuring exercise.
On Monday, a memo was circulated to the Nationwide staff advising of CFO’s resignation, effective the following day.
The memo didn’t state a reason for his resignation.
