DIGICEL, the company which helped to revolutionise Jamaica’s telecommunications sector, has expressed pleasure with the theme of this year’s World Consumer Rights Day — ‘Your Phone, Your Rights’ — which is to be observed on Saturday, March 15.

The telecommunications company said it was happy to see worldwide attention being placed on the significance of telephone communication to everyday life, as it pointed to the importance of having access to dependable, secure communication services.

“The phone as an instrument has become so important to how our world functions on a day-to-day basis. There is no aspect of life that telecommunications does not touch. We are proud of our legacy of liberalising the Jamaican mobile phone market and are thankful that we were able to bring the best value, the best service and the best network to more than two million customers all across Jamaica for the past 13 years,” said Shelly-Ann Harris, Digicel’s senior communications manager.

“Digicel has certainly seen and facilitated transformation trends with our customers increasingly wanting and securing smartphones and using data to surf, stream, play, work and connect with others across Jamaica and the world,” Harris added.

As part of its efforts to celebrate the transformation of phone culture, Digicel said it would be staging a special event for customers on Consumer Rights Day. “It will be a day of fun, special offers, entertainment and giving back in true Digicel Jamaica fashion,” said Harris.
