Traffic snarl frustrates motorists heading into Montego Bay
ST JAMES, Jamaica — Motorists heading into Montego Bay from Granville, toward the West Green intersection, have been facing severe gridlock.
From early Friday morning, bumper-to-bumper traffic greeted hundreds of motorists, with some saying they have been experiencing snail’s pace movement from as far away as Gutters, about four kilometres away. The routes through Tucker and Granville were both affected.
Those caught in the traffic attribute it to the work being done on the Montego Bay Perimeter Road, in the vicinity of Catherine Hall. One commuter said what is usually an eight-minute journey took about an hour this morning.

A cabbie told Observer Online he had managed to make his way to the Granville/Fairfield intersection, but he was stuck in traffic for quite a while.
One commuter called in sick when she realised she would miss her 8:30 start time after more than an hour stuck in traffic.
“At this point, might as well come out of the bus,” she said at one point as she looked at the long line of traffic ahead of the vehicle.
According to a cop in the area, the police are working to help reduce the traffic buildup by putting personnel at different points to help move the traffic along.
