JC, Campion advance to hockey semis
DEFENDING champions Jamaica College (JC) and Campion College advanced to the semi-finals of the 2014 ISSA/Jamaica Hockey Federation High Schoolboys Under-19 League after scoring wins in their respective quarter-final games at the Mona Astro Turf last Tuesday.
The other semi-finalist match-up will see Wolmer’s Boys and Mona High doing battle.
JC tagged Tivoli High 3-1 through two goals from Orland Rodney and the other from Kyle Minott, while Daniel Drummond scored the losers’ only goal.
Meanwhile, Campion College clipped Papine High 2-1 with two goals from the sticks of Richard Harris, with the losers’ goals scored by Warren Blake.
In the other two quarter-finals on Wednesday, Mona beat St Andrew Technical High (STATHS) 2-1 with goals from Jevaughn Osbourne and Jason Chin in the fifth and 28th minutes, respectively, while Dominic Baptiste scored in the 44th minute for the losers.
Two goals from Luke Frazer in the first and 40th minutes carved out a 2-1 win for Wolmer’s Boys over Munro College. Jardan Gayle scored the lone goal for the losers in the 29th minute.
For the semi-finals, defending champions Jamaica College will go up against Mona at 3:00 pm, while Campion face Wolmer’s at 4:30 pm to be played on Monday at the Mona Hockey Turf.
In the girls’ equivalent this afternoon, St Hugh’s High will take on Alpha Academy at 3:00 pm, while defending champions St Andrew High will face Excelsior High at 4:30.
