PROFESSIONAL boxing returns to the Chinese Benevolent Association Auditorium on Old Hope Road tonight starting at 7:30.

The Wray & Nephew Contender Boxing series will get going with former champion Sakimo Mullings touching gloves with Guyanese journeyman Revlon Lake in the opening bout of the rich 2014 fourth series that pits Jamaican boxers against their Caribbean counterparts for a first prize of $2 million.

Sponsored by Wray & Nephew in association with Wisynco through its Schweppes grapefruit soda, patrons will see for the first time a team of eight Jamaicans going up against a team of eight Caribbean opponents, representing the best welterweight boxers in the region.

They will go head-to-head for a share of nearly $3 million and a chance to win the title of Jamaica’s Ultimate Welterweight Contender and pocket the appetising first prize of $2 million.

The runner-up will pocket $500,000 with third place $250,000 and fourth place $200,000.

The fighters will be split into two teams — the Jamaican Green Team and the Yellow Team of the rest of the Caribbean.

Jamaica will be represented by Mullings, second winner of the Contender Boxing Series, last year’s runner-up Tsetsi Davis, 2012 winner Donovan ‘Police’ Campbell, Kevin ‘Bus Boy’ Hylton, Ramel ‘Sub Zero’ Lewis, Richard ‘Frog’ Holmes, Derrick ‘Guts’ Spenser and Glenroy ‘Bumpy’ Beckford.

Along with Lake, the Caribbean Team will also be represented by Gardel ‘The Judge’ Roberts, Guyana; Christopher ‘Shaka’ Henry, Barbados; Derrick ‘Dangerous’ Richmond, Guyana; Howard ‘Batter Tea’ Eastman, Guyana; Gladwin ‘Tiger’ Dorway, Guyana and Anthony Osbourne of Jamaica.
