She gives Kingston Edwards an intriguing, exotic look reminiscent of the beguiling music halls of the Folies Bergère with iridescent gold-encrusted lids winged down the T-zone, azure-coloured lips and contours to the max to bring out the bones of the face.

UNDER THE DRYER

A PLACE IN THE SUN

We don’t know if it’s the wonderful breeze and radiant sunshine we’ve been experiencing lately but your Under The Dryer glam squad has been daydreaming about serious poolside and beach time lately. Whether you are the sun worshipper, the active or sporty wave chaser, or the casual beachcomber, here’s what you’ll need to stay picture-perfect as you recline and take a load off.

Sunblock Party

Don’t be fooled, no matter what your shade is, be it alabaster or dark chocolate. Sunblock is your saviour. Slather it everywhere and ensure to let it soak in for 20 mins before heading out. Layer it under your foundation for a dewy appearance. If liquid sun protection cream or lotion is too heavy for your tastes, powdered sunblock is a great alternative.

Bronze, Bronze, Bronze

If you plan not to play around in the sun get a glistening glow with a waterproof bronzer that has a significant SPF factor.

Waterproof Everything

Speaking of waterproof: When it comes to your mascara and lipgloss don’t let the splash or surf ruin your look. Stick to gel-based products to keep the look intact.

Sea Salty

A fun day at the beach can really do a number on your tresses, what with the breeze, sand, sun and salt. So here’s the perfect time to experiment with tousled waves by misting with a sea salt spray to add layered texture for a beguiling mermaid look on the way back to the city.

Highlights

Possess some blonde ambition? Bring along lemons or limes to streak your locks to bring you from dull to sun-kissed in no time. Remember to deep-condition as soon as you are back indoors to keep the unfortunate straw-like texture side-effect of bleaching at bay.

Aftercare

Aou’ve showered off the sea salt or chlorine, rejuvenate your skin from the inside out with cups of green tea and add soothingly protective layer to your epidermis with some organic aloe gel.

TIP: Use a sunblock with SPF 50 and over. A shot glass-sized amount will be enough for your entire body. Also, don’t forget behind your ears and knees, along the hairline and nape of the neck and the back of the hands.

TIP: Don’t reapply your beach make-up; it will start clumping and nobody wants that. To keep things in check, dab at intervals with blotting paper. Yes, the look will fade overtime but that’s the point of being out in the water — easy, breezy, beautiful does it!
