Marley joins Reggae Girlz band
CEDELLA Marley, chief executive officer of Marley Group of Companies, is now the new ambassador for the Reggae Girlz, it was announced yesterday.
Speaking at a press conference in Kingston, the daughter of Reggae king Bob Marley, Cedella said that football is a significant part of her life and that it was easy for her to come on board as ambassador for the Reggae Girlz.
“It is good to be here in Jamaica and to be a part of the JFF. Football is a popular sport in Jamaica and also a significant part in my life as I used to be on the sideline watching and cheering my father playing on the field, so you could see that football is in the blood.
“The girls need funding, I can get funding… I can do funding. They need proper training and proper nutrients, which I am here for… I am happy to be their ambassador and to have a voice for them and to use my resources to get whatever help they need,” she said at the JFF hosted press function.
Marley, who lives in Miami, said that she was proud of the Girlz and promised that she is ready to join them for the long haul.
“I am proud of our champions, this is the right time to come on board and support the Girlz. I don’t know how long this ambassador thing will last, but I am going to be here for the Reggae Girlz forever because ‘every mickle mek a muckle’ and I encourage everyone to come together and support these talented Girlz,” she outlined.
President of the JFF Captain Horace Burrell said that Marley was what the JFF needed and thanked her for coming on board to support the Girlz.
“Jamaica football needed something, something which is an icon to blaze the trail. When it came to my attention that Cedella is to come on board as the ambassador, I was so ecstatic. This was what the JFF was looking for, Cedella will now provide funding which will look after the ladies,” he said.
“I was over the moon, happy and satisfied that the daughter of the great Robert ‘Nesta’ Marley had decided to come and join our family, so on the behalf of the JFF and the wider football family we thank Cedella for deciding to become the ambassador for the Reggae Girlz and we look forward to working with her,” Burrell added.
