Jamaica College and Eltham High are set to cross swords in the final of the ISSA Grace Shield after they both scored easy wins over their respective opponents in the two-day, two-innings semi-final round of games on Wednesday.

Eltham High topped section one with 11 points, after Ramone Francis led them to a bruising 10-wicket win over Ardenne.

Scores: (Ardenne 50 & 115; Eltham 160-3 dec & 15-0).

Ardenne High, batting first, were bowled over for a paltry 50 runs, with William Thomas (19) being the topscorer. Ramone Francis with six for 35 and Kevon Richards two for three led the bowling.

Francis then returned to make an unbeaten 118 to lead Eltham’s run chase as they posted 160 for three before declaring. Jevel Innis was the second best scorer with 22.

Ardenne in their second innings did a little better as they posted 115 all out, which saw Malcolm Fisher 48 and Mickayle Riley 46 putting up a fight. Innis grabbed four wickets for 25, while Francis took two for 54. Eltham then eased to victory making 15 without loss.

In the other section one game, Wolmer’s defeated Kingston College by eight wickets.

Scores: (KC 152 & 133; Wolmer’s 252-7 dec & 43-2).

Batting first Kingston College made 152 all out, which saw Jamie Haye leading the way with an unbeaten 62. Suwayne Morrison three for 25 and Denniel Griffiths three for 36 were the best bowlers.

Wolmer’s in their first innings declared at 252 for seven. Hodane Bryce led with 57 supported by Malcolm Whyte who made 53. Obrian Duncan and Jamie Haye bagged two wickets each.

Kingston College in their second innings could only manage 133, with Oshane Wright’s 39 the only useful score. Sadique Henry grabbed six for 29.

Wolmer’s, needing 42 for victory, replied with 43 for two to close out their season on a winning note.

Meanwhile, Jamaica College topped section two with 10 points after they easily disposed of Jonathan Grant, winning by an innings and 60 runs.

Jonathan Grant, taking first knock, were bowled down for a meagre 69. Chevaughn Bondsfeather 39 was the only batsman to put up a fight against Akim Fraser’s six for 14.

Jamaica College responded with 239 for nine before declaring with three of their batsmen getting half-centuries. Shamar McKoy made 57, Gyasi Falconer 53 and Josher Grey 52. Shandee Dennis and Bondsfeather grabbed three wickets each.

Jonathan Grant, batting a second time, fell 60 runs short of making Jamaica College bat again as they could only manage 119. Bondsfeather 45 and Dennis 36 carried the fight for the St Catherine-based team, while Jason Tapper four for 46 and Falconer two wickets strangled the batting.

The other section two fixture between St Jago and Excelsior ended in a draw, with Excelsior getting first innings honours.

Scores: ( St Jago 213 & 170-5; Excelsior 341).

Excelsior batting first posted a tantalising 341, which saw Orande Pearson 62, Qwayne Moore 62 and Raewin Senior 41, leading the batting. Andre Fowler was the pick of the bowlers with three for 115, while Mark Blake took two for 40.

St Jago in their first innings fell short as they were bowled over for 213. Fowler led the way with 43, followed by Rayan Hinds 34. Denzil Dillion and Pearson took four wickets each.

Batting a second time, St Jago were 170 for five when stumps were drawn.

The three-day final will begin today at the Melbourne Cricket Club.
