Portland Bids Farewell
“It was as she wanted,” shared Patrice Wymore Flynn’s beloved grandson Luke. That it was: an old- school cocktail party attended by the late Hollywood actress’ closest family, friends and those from the parish she had called home for decades, complete with slide show and a documentary on The Zaca – the sailboat on which Errol Flynn sailed to Jamaica during a 1946 storm.
The aptly named Errol Flynn Marina is where hundreds gathered last week Thursday afternoon to share memories of the inimitable Wymore Flynn. It was a perfect day and with Navy Island visible, the familiar mento sounds of the Jolly Boys, Geejam Collections boss Jon Baker handling the formalities, remembrances came from her medical doctor, friend and East Portland MP Dr Lynvale Bloomfield, livestock geneticist and student of the late Thomas Philip ‘TP’ Lecky Dr Karl Wellington, MP Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange and Alexis Chin who spoke on behalf of her father Xavier Chin. And with that, the woman who left the bright lights of Hollywood behind for a quieter existence took her final curtain call.
The remains of Hollywood actress and cattle farmer Patrice Wymore Flynn will be interred beside those of her late husband Errol at Forest Lawns Cemetery, Los Angeles, California
