Producer/deejay The Wizard recently released the song Toppanaris on Soundcloud. It is expected to be available on iTunes on July 1.

Toppanaris is the follow-up to her breakthrough hit, Mash it Up, which was released in late 2013.

“The song is about doing you and not caring about what anybody else thinks. Being a ‘Toppanaris’ is just embracing what makes you different. Just know sey yuh royal same way,” she said.

Toppanaris is The Wizard’s latest attempt to establish herself as an artiste. Like Mash it Up, it is self-produced.

She has produced songs and done remixes for acts such as Nelly Furtado (Bajo Otra Luz), Michael Franti and Spearhead (Shake It) and Tropic Electric by                 Kreesha Turner.

She has produced songs by Assassin, Tifa, Beenie Man, Courtney John and Cherine Anderson.

Born Natasia Hammond, The Wizard is the daughter of singer Beres Hammond. She was formally trained as a drummer at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts in Kingston.

At age 17, she was ‘discovered’ by John, her cousin, who has recorded several hit songs such as I Go Crazy and Lucky Man.

 He was so intrigued by what he heard, he immediately started mentoring and working with her, she explained.

Producing other artistes is still important. She is currently laying tracks for dancehall artiste Chedda’s new album, Donification.
