Security Ministry merges MOCA and ACB
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The National Security Ministry has merged the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s (JCF) Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) with the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Task Force (MOCA).
The merged agencies will now be called the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency, while maintaining its MOCA acronym.
Minister of National Security Peter Bunting made the announcement a short while ago during a Press Conference at the Police Officer’s Club on Old Hope Road, Kingston.
In his statement, Bunting said the move comes as part of the ministry’s crime prevention efforts and to tackle corruption and impunity.
Bunting said that “the new agency will continue to investigate corruption and organised crime wherever it occurs” and will allow the JCF and Jamaica Defence Force to work together in reducing corruption.
The new agency will be headed by Colonel Desmond Edwards of the JDF.
