NSWMA apologises for non-collection of garbage in Kingston, St Catherine
KINGSTON, Jamaica –The National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) is apologising for the delay in the collection of solid waste from some communities in the Kingston Metropolitan Region and St Catherine.
“We have thoroughly assessed the situation and will implement changes to our operations that will clear the backlog,” the Authority said in a release Thursday, August 14.
“We are currently finalising a new collection schedule for the parishes of St Thomas, St Catherine, Kingston and St Andrew. The public will be notified and it will be uploaded to our website by the end of next week,” the Authority said.
The NSWMA said that to ensure collection, residents are being urged to properly containerise solid waste (put in drums and or bags) and place on the outside of their premises.
Residents may contact the NSWMA toll free at 1 888 253 2652 call or send a text to 448-3220 or e-mail at nswma@nswma.gov.jm for any information that they require about the collection of solid waste.
