Three men arrested in robbery of 12 travel agencies
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Detectives from the Flying Squad have arrested three men for robbing 12 travel agencies in the parishes of Manchester, St Elizabeth, St Catherine, Kingston and St Andrew.
One of the men has been charged with receiving stolen property. He is 33-year-old Mark Spence of a Kingston address. The other two are expected to face identification parades.
Spence is to appear before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, October 2.
The men were taken into custody during an operation in Delacree Park, Kingston on July 16, and are believed to be linked to organized crime syndicates operating out of the parishes.
It is alleged that the men have been committing the robberies from 2013, stealing appliances, cash and other valuables from various travel agencies.
Following investigations by the detectives, an operation was launched and items with a cumulative value of approximately $5.3 million recovered. A stolen motor vehicle and twenty-four cellular phones were also recovered.
