Jamaica swamp US Virgin Islands 19-0 in U-17 World Cup qualifier
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica trounced US Virgin Islands 19-0 and jumped to the top of Group One of the Caribbean Football Union Under -17 World Cup Qualification at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex on Saturday.
Guadeloupe which blanked Cayman Islands 3-0 joined Jamaica on three points but are second with an inferior goal difference.
Donovan Dawkins netted seven times in the fifth, 32nd, 43rd, 68th, 71st, 86th and 89th minutes as Jamaica made mince meat of the hapless US Virgin Islands.
Justin McMaster scored four times — the ninth, 36th, 50th and 61st minutes while Alex Marshall grabbed a hat trick netting in the 15th, 20th and 23rd minutes.
Jamaica ended the first half 9-0 with three timers from Dawkins and Marshall.
Dawkins opened the scoring in the fifth minute and added to his tally in the 32nd and 43rd minutes. Marshall grabbed his hat trick in eight minutes from the 15th to 23rd minutes.
Mc Master also got in on the first half act scoring twice, in the ninth and 36th minutes. Tajea Brown scored in the 29th minute.
In the curtain the raiser Guadeloupe defeated Cayman Islands 3-0
Hendrix Hebreu opened the scoring in the 54th minute before Sylguy Fumont converted a 79th minute penalty. Benjamin Laurent sealed the win with a long range effort in the 90th minute.
The competition continues on Monday with Jamaica playing Cayman Islands and Guadeloupe tackling US Virgin Islands.
