Bad Apple is expected to target numerous high schools in and around the corporate area this week.

The play was run in May of this year, but the demand for, and response to the play was so great that writer and producer, Fabian Barracks, decided to showcase another short series of performances this month.

The production starts showing today, Tuesday November 25, and runs until Friday of this week. It is being shown at the Theatre Place in New Kingston. Though anyone can attend the production, some schools have already booked their seats. These include The Queen’s School, Clan Carthy, Meadowbrook, Waterford, Dunoon Technical, Oberlin, Calabar, and Saint Catherine High School.

The play, according to Barracks is “a strategic effort to address, sensitise and educate students and adults of Childhood pornography, paedophilia, and the dangers of engaging in early sexual activity”.

As such, the play is centred around a teenager, whose nude photographs were circulated. It also shows the emotional turmoil that this caused her, and how it caused others to treat her as an individual. Strong themes in the play are deception, misplaced loyalty, appearance versus reality, peer pressure, abuse, as well as the impact of technology.

Barracks hopes that the production will not only be appreciated for its entertainment value, but will impact the way teenagers think and act in certain situations, when they are faced by them.
