ST Ann’s Bay business woman Hazel Chuck was ,recently, honoured by the St Ann’s Bay Optimist Club’s at its 18th Installation ceremony held at the St Ann Parish Church Hall in the parish for her contribution to the group’s breakfast feeding programme at Priory Primary School.

“We thank you for your selflessness and your numerous contributions to the clubs in St Ann’s Bay, and particularly the Optimist Club,” said Patricia Allen, president designate who read a citation to Chuck.

“We wish to express our gratitude for your contribution to our club,” she added.

An overwhelmed Chuck said while she does not serve to be recognised, but was happy her efforts were appreciated.

“I am overwhelmed; you know when you don’t expect something,” she stated.

“I have come to serve and that’s just what I am doing. I did not crave any ‘thank you’ because I do it wholeheartedly,” she noted.

She expressed gratitude to the club on behalf of the staff at Chuck’s Bakery and her family for the recognition.

Other organisations which were highlighted for their contributions to the club’s activities from 2013 to 2014 were Arosa, Bayside Pastries and The Flowers Place.

As the club acknowledged those who have helped it to achieve some of its objective in 2014, newly installed president Joan Barnaby pledged to continue the successful work of the organisation

Barnaby said she intends to work assiduously in leading her club in the right direction.

“I implore you all to take up the mantle of service as we seek to tackle the task set before us,” she urged.

Guest speaker at the installation ceremony and pastor at Church On the Rock, Ocho Rios, Rev Omar Stennett urged them to do so with honesty and integrity.

“Every leader must be trustworthy…if you cant trust the person, they can’t lead you,” he said.
