Brain Tumour Classic Golf Tourney deemed a success
THE annual Heineken Brain Tumour Classic Golf Tournament held at the Cinnamon Hill Golf course in Rose Hall, St James on Saturday was deemed a huge success.
The overall champion of the tournament was Sean Morris with the Best Gross Score (Blue Tees) of 73.
According to organisers, all participants seemed to have enjoyed themselves in a very competitive tournament. It was an amazing day on the golf course as players coaxed spectators’ interest with their good swings.
All categories, except 0-9, were scored on the Stableford Points system with full handicap allowed.
The winners in the Men’s and Men’s Seniors — three sections 0-9 Handicap (medal play) category were winner Paul Seaton with 80 holes, Zandre Roye 81 holes and third-placed Glenroy Stephenson.
The 10-17 Handicap category saw Norris Scafe coming away in first place with 41points followed by Sedwick Gordon with 39 points and Richard White with 38 points.
The winner of the 18-24 Handicap category went to Andrew Richards, who racked up a 38 points win over Darren Matson, who came in second with 32 points
Men’s Super Seniors — two sections in the 0-12 Handicap saw Dudley Wilson taking the first-place title with 41 points, Dorrel Allen settling for second place with 38 points, while third place went to Easton Williams with 36 points.
The winners of the 13-24 Handicap were Basil Daley with 38 points, followed by Stanley Grant and Eddy Spence with
35 and 35, respectively.
The Ladies — two Sections, 0-12 Handicap category winner was Sherice Walker, who walked away with 34 points, While Murine Gordon captured the title for the 13-28 Handicap female category with a leading 50 points with Venus Lowe and Rita Humphries Lewin in second and third places, respectively.
Closest to the Pin-Hole number six was Bert Tomlinson.
The Medal Play Pro category was the highlight of the evening. Fabian Campbell from the Constant Spring Golf Club won in a play-off and walked away as the champion with 74 holes. Second place went to Delroy McDonald of Half Moon Golf Club with 74 holes, while third place went to Alford Robinson of Cinnamon Hill Golf Club.
Brand manager, Heineken Imru James said that the brand was pleased to be back on board.
“We are especially happy that this charity event will provide life-saving equipment for persons with spinal injuries,” James said.
