THEY all have one thing in common — a passion for ensuring a healthful mind, body and spirit.

As such Loeri Robinson, Kerry-Ann Parks-Robinson and Karen Thompson started THE (Total Healing Experience) SPA in June 2014, a boutique spa in a house, that would promise a more intimate, calming and rustic environment.

But the initial stages weren’t smooth sailing in terms of financial security, and it was dedication and perseverance that got the business off the ground.

Robinson told Career & Education that she had known both Parks-Robinson and Thompson for some time and observed how they operated for two years as spa therapists. She said from their work ethic and synergy, she realised they had the potential to do great things.

“I knew how excellent their services were. I used to go to both of them and you can say they were my hidden gem as I was very meticulous with my image. They needed a proper face in terms of the feel and look of things and they needed capital injection as the potential was there,” Robinson said.

Subsequently, she approached both Parks-Robinson and Thompson with the idea of a partnership and helped to set the pace for the business.

“I got involved and became a partner with them. I helped to renovate the place, gave them equipment and changed the name of the spa. I dealt with the entire marketing and public relations aspect and revamped the place,” she said.

The spa is also family-oriented and very keen on privacy.

“Even if it’s just to do a manicure I need my space and so there are bi-fold doors so you have the option of closing the doors or opening up if you want people to see you or if you want to have a sparty,” Robinson said.

She added that they are also health-conscious and use organic products.

“It is a total healing experience. It is not just about nails, but it’s about your lifestyle and we share a holistic view on taking care of you. It’s simple, but it encompasses what we’re about,” Robinson said.

Some of the services include waxing, chocolate body massages, hot stone massages, facials and wart removal.

Both Parks-Robinson and Thompson, therapists and part-owners, share a passion and dedication for the line of work they’re in.

Parks-Robinson said from her days at Ardenne High, she knew what she wanted to do.

“I started from high school where I would come home and work on my mom’s nails, my brother’s, or anyone who was available. After high school I went and did courses, migrated to the Turks and Caicos and focused on skin care. It’s my passion, I can’t do anything else. It’s a form of therapy. I feel like a counsellor sometimes because it’s more than just giving you services,” she said.

Moreover, Thompson said her passion and dream started while at Jonathan Grant High where she did cosmetology, and from there on worked at Jencare for 14 years, then The Face Place, until she upgraded herself by doing more courses and teamed up with Robinson and Parks-Robinson.

“I couldn’t see myself doing anything else. I love seeing people happy and making others feel good. When you realise how much people love what you do and appreciate it, you feel like you’re worth something,” she said.

Parks-Robinson added that she ensures everyone is satisfied, regardless of what services they’re doing.

“I’m a perfectionist and one of my main things is to ensure people are satisfied. Karen, Loeri and I, we’re all perfectionists,” she said.

Customer service is also a top priority for them.

“We ensure that whatever we say is coming from the heart. If you wait, you get a complimentary massage or a discount. Once a client came and couldn’t wait. We called her, apologised and offered her gift supplies. Service is something we pride. We also follow up with our clients,” Robinson said.

The SPA is currently developing their signature line dubbed Natural Mystic. They also boast being priced below all major spas. Additionally, they operate on a flexible basis and will accommodate people at various times outside of working hours once an appointment is set.
