On The Gridiron

IN the emotionally-wrought XLIX incarnation of the annual Super Bowl game — and it turns out, the most viewed broadcast in television history — an arguably lucky New England Patriots team batted and ultimately succeeded, in a 28-24 comeback win, the defending National Football League champions Seattle Seahawks, for the coveted Vince Lombardi trophy inside the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona on Sunday night.

In addition to the reported 114 million US-based viewers were those devoted sports fans here on The Rock who pitched their tents — despite inclement weather — before the mega-screen centrepiece of the GRIDIRION viewing event, hosted at the amphitheatre of the Hope Botanical Gardens.
