Club Stars grab lead in Sandals/ATL Division One football
ROSE HALL, St James — Club Stars have taken over the lead in the points table in the St James Football Association Sandals/ATL Division One after a big 6-0 thumping of Paradise FC at the Wyndham Field, on Thursday afternoon.
The win gave Club Stars the edge on goal difference over Faulklands SC and Irwin FC, who also won their opening games earlier.
In another game played at the UDC playing field, Salt Spring Roses came from a goal down to earn a point from a 1-1 draw against Granville City.
Courtney Nelson gave Granville City the lead in the 26th minute but Melvin Williams equalised in the 59th minute for Salt Spring Roses.
At Wyndham, Terrick Dixon scored twice in the first 29 minutes to give Club Stars a good start; he opened the scoring in the 18th minute, then added a second in the 29th minute.
Mario Leslie and Reno Edmonson added to the tally a few minutes later, while Troy Leslie added a fifth in the 39th as Club Stars all but finished the game as a contest from the first half.
Jamar Johnson added the sixth goal in the 85th minute.
