Granville All-Age gets facelift
MONTEGO BAY, St James
THE Granville All-Age School in St James received much-needed renovation during an outreach project funded and supported
by the Sandals Foundation and leading Canadian distributor of hardware and home improvement products, RONA Inc.
During the recent project, over 140 volunteers from RONA Inc and the Sandals Foundation painted several sections of the facility, including the restrooms and drinking fountain. Volunteers also installed new fencing at the school, and built and installed lunch benches for the students.
“It is with heartfelt gratitude that we acknowledge this wonderful gesture,” said Ann-Marie Brown, principal of Granville All-Age School, who expressed appreciation on behalf of the school’s board of governors, staff and students for the tangible way in which the Sandals Foundation and RONA Inc have supported the institution, which has been around since 1951.
“When corporate bodies give support to small entities that are in need of help, it creates an awareness in our students that other entities are also interested in their education and wish to see them learn in a safe, comfortable and beautiful environment,” Brown added.
She further noted that when groups like the Sandals Foundation collaborates with international entities such as RONA Inc, it helps to foster and strengthen good relationships between countries.
“There are also cultural exchanges that will leave lasting impressions and as an institution we are always happy to be a part of that,” she emphasised.
This project and partnership with RONA Inc reflects the Sandals Foundation’s ongoing commitment to education and youth development in Jamaica and the wider Caribbean. The Sandals Foundation actively supports education by providing infrastructural assistance, scholarships, teacher training and early childhood stimulation initiatives.
