MANDEVILLE, Manchester — Respective zone leaders Comfort and Hillstars will look to consolidate their positions at the top of the JB Rum/Captain’s Bakery Manchester Major League as cross-zone action culminates today with a full slate of matches.

At deCarteret College, Zone One table-toppers Comfort play away to George’s Valley, while Hillstars, the Zone Two front-runners, meet Alligator Pond at the Alpart Sports Club in St Elizabeth.

In other games, defending champions New Green host Downs at Brooks Park, Greenvale travel to Mile Gully, Porus entertain Ricam at Porus Community Centre, while Kendal are at home to Villa United.

All games are scheduled for 3:00 pm starts.

On paper, Hillstars appear to have the easier fixture, as in Alligator Pond they face a team who are sitting at the bottom of Zone Two on 11 points, having lost half of their 10 matches played so far; winning three and drawing two with a goal difference of minus nine — the worst in the competition.

Conversely, Hillstars (21 points) have been the competition’s best team in all departments, losing only once in 10 outings to establish a five-point lead at the top of their zone. They also have the best goal-scoring (16) and defensive (four) records in the division.

The other game will pit two teams, Comfort and George’s Valley, with almost identical records. Both sides have played 10 games, won four, drawn four and lost two. But Comfort, who top Zone Two with 16 points, lead the way in goals scored (14) and conceded (eight). George’s, the second-placed side in Zone One on 16 points, have scored the same number of goals (11) they have conceded.
