SAMSUNG expects new Galaxy phones to ‘mash up’ the Caribbean market
SAMSUNG aims to launch its newest smartphones — the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge — into the Caribbean market next month.
“It’s basically continuing to improve on what we feel is industry leading camera technology,” Samsung key accounts manager Kenneth Moore told the Jamaica Observer. “It’s our flagship device and we expect to ‘mash up’ the market like what the Jamaicans woul’d say.”
The South Korean company in contending for the top spot amongst its rivals, continues to work on improving its technology devices year-over-year. The new devices should be available for sale April 16.
Samsung’s Galaxy S6 and S6 edge will be launched a year after the introduction of the Galaxy S5, and only a month after its last phone launch, the Galaxy A3 and A5.
“What we have done with the Galaxy S6 is basically redesign the device from the ground up,” Samsung key accounts manager Kenneth Moore told the Caribbean Business Report in an interview on Wednesday.
“They really went back to the drawing board, did their research and what we have come with is this beautiful device with a blend of glass and metal that truly brings Samsung to the forefront of innovation,” he added.
The Galaxy S6 edge has a curved display on both sides. It’s body, which is crafted from metal and glass is available in jewel tones including white pearl, black sapphire, gold platinum, blue topaz and green emerald.
The phones measure 6.8 mm and 7.0mm thick, with a weight of 138g and 132g respectively and are described as of two the thinnest smartphones Samsung has ever launched. Additionally, the two phones carry a five megapixel front camera and 16 megapixel rear camera.
A new quick launch feature on the phones give users fast and direct access to the camera from any screen in just 0.7 seconds by double clicking the home key button. These advanced camera functions enable users to capture their moments, however and wherever they want, Moore added.
“We have implemented new technology in the batteries where if you charge your device for 10 minutes you can get up to four hours of usage. This also makes it one and a half times faster to charge than the Galaxy S5,” he stated.
