Riverton City fire disrupts netball leagues
NETBALL Jamaica yesterday postponed the opening matches of the Berger Elite League scheduled for yesterday and tomorrow due to the out-of-control fire at the Riverton City garbage disposal site in Kingston.
According to a release from the local governing body of the sport, “The current atmospheric conditions are unhealthy and not at all conducive to outdoor activities. “Netball Jamaica anticipates that conditions will improve for matches to begin next week and will issue further announcements regarding the updated schedule.”
Meanwhile, all games slated for the Supreme Ventures Major and Minor Leagues for today have also been postponed. It is hoped that regular activities will resume next week.
