Minibus mayhem
Dear SSP Allen,
I travel along the Waltham Park Road to and from work daily.
Every day the minibuses overtake lines of traffic with wild abandon, they drive at ‘breakneck’ speed endangering other motorists and pedestrians.
They overtake everything in sight and then force their way into the line whenever they see an approaching police service vehicle.
This habit is now becoming widespread as it is now common on Weymouth Drive in Washington Gardens.
What can the traffic police do to stamp out this behaviour? Is it possible to have checkpoints set up during peak hours to deter this type of behaviour?
Paul Douglas
Dear Mr Douglas,
I have read and noted your observation/concern as well as your recommendation relative to the Waltham Park Road and its immediate environs.
A team has been tasked to give some focus within that zone as we seek to restore public safety, order and general discipline on our roadways. SSP Calvin Allen
