Tastee beefs up KSAFA U-17 football
THE Kingston and St Andrew Football Association (KSAFA) Under-17 football competition, sponsored by Tastee, is set to begin on April 30.
The start-up announcement was made by KSAFA president Ambassador AB Stewart Stephenson at Tastee’s head office at 25A Half-Way-Tree Road on Thursday.
Thirty clubs are down to compete in the tournament that will be known as the Tastee/KSAFA 2015 Under- 17 competition. It will be played over a six-week duration.
The budget for the associate sponsors for the Age Group competition is $2.33 million, of which Tastee, the major sponsors have contributed $1.75 million: associate sponsors, Kingston Wharves $250,000: Western Union $50,000; with KSAFA’s contribution being $280,000.
In launching the 2015 edition of the competition, president Stephenson pointed to the importance of such a competition as it “seeks to attract and prepare those players for the Corporate Area Manning Cup and rural daCosta Cup competitions commencing in the new school year in September.”
President Stephenson added that another important aspect of the tournament is to provide “a pool from which our national selectors can identify emerging talent for Jamaica’s World Cup squad to Moscow, Russia in the summer of 2018.”
