Uncompromising VW Jetta

VOLKSWAGEN’S multi-award winning compact sedan, the Jetta, has received a makeover for 2015 and is now available from ATL Automotive starting at $3,795,000.

“The Jetta represents the best bang for the buck,” Rory McDonald, senior sales executive at ATL Automotive, told Auto.

McDonald went on to point out the Jetta’s key advantages in safety, security, and performance over its class rivals.

Visually, the sedan gets some simple styling updates, front and rear, bringing it in line with its corporate siblings, especially the bigger Passat. Inside, the car retains its spacious interior, but sees the touches of silver trimming with up-market piano-black accents on pieces such as the steering wheel.

For safety, the 2015 Jetta gets six airbags, and side impact protection to deal with the physical side of things.

On the preventative side, there is a host of electronic systems to help you avoid the accident in the first place such as Electronic Stability Programme, Electronic Brake-Force Distribution, Anti-Slip Regulation and Intelligent Crash Response System (ICRS). The latter, runs through a pre-programmed set of operations, like unlocking the doors and seatbelts, automatically turning on the hazards and others, should it sense an airbag deployment. Further peace of mind comes from the fact that the Jetta’s top five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and in its EuroNCAP testing.

Passenger security sees a full-factory audible alarm system, with electric immobiliser built into the remote keys, and an interior compartment surveillance system has motion and pressure sensors for interior intrusion alert.

“The deadlock feature stops the door opening for example, in the situation where the window is broken and an attempt is made to force the occupants from the vehicle,” McDonald explained.

For performance the ‘Jet’ in the Jetta is evident with the 161bhp 1.4-litre twincharged engine. Using both a turbo and supercharger with the seven-speed semi-automatic DSG gearbox gives the Jetta an amazing amount of flexibility allowing the driver to use the 184lb/ft of torque whether for speed, comfort, or fuel efficiency.

The car retains its powerful and flexible 1.4-litre twincharged motor
paired with the smooth seven-speed DSG transmission.
Space continues to be a Jetta trait with a massive trunk and
60/40 fold-down rear seats
The rear lights have been revised to match those of its other
VW siblings.
