Father’s Day Flames in Little Ochi
ALLIGATOR POND, Manchester — Although there were only two instead of the expected ten participants in the Father’s Day Flames on the Sand cook-off at the Little Ochi Seafood Restaurant in Alligator Pond, organisers say they are pleased with the outcome of the event and plan to add it to their annual calendar.
Marketing consultant Shawlet Jackson said that Little Ochi Seafood Restaurant has had events for mothers but it was this year, for the first time, that an event was held to officially recognise fathers.
She said that there are many excellent fathers who deserve “royal treatment”.
For their participation, Jackson said that the contestants — Donald Allison and Oral Simpson — were equally awarded with $20,000 and other prizes.
Patrons were not left out and courtesy of IGL, table-top stoves were awarded to two raffle winners and there were discounts on the seafood offerings, she said.
The day was dubbed one of “Good Food, Good Fun (and) Good Music” and some guests, many out as a family, could be seen just taking it all in at the seaside scenery.
In addition to IGL, Jackson said Grace Foods and newly established company Juice Valley were other sponsors making the day’s event possible.
