The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) continues to operate like crabs in a barrel. The recent suspension of the selection process for a new candidate in St Catherine West Central demonstrates this.

From all indications, the more experienced candidate, Dr Christopher Tufton, seems to have been emerging as the popular candidate. But, alas, in what can be considered an attempt to keep him out, the JLP Secretariat has suspended the selection with an excuse that it’s to prevent tensions in the seat.

If the JLP Secretariat were effective and unbiased in this affair they would ask Dr Andrew Wheatley, an officer of the secretariat who declared himself manager of one of the candidates, to resign from the secretariat. It would, at the same time, take action against those who tried a poor attempt at a demonstration in the seat and more offensively burnt a shirt bearing the picture of Dr Tufton.

Who would want to be a part of a party that treats its own this way? I am disgusted and turned off the JLP.
