Tallawahs will bounce back, says skipper
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Christopher Gayle, the Jamaica Tallawahs skipper, says his team will rebound after suffering back-to-back losses at Sabina Park recently.
The Tallawahs lost by 17 runs to Barbados Tridents on Saturday before falling to a crushing 84-run defeat to Guyana Amazon Warriors a day later.
Jamaica Tallawahs, the 2013 winners, will have their chance for revenge in the return fixture against the Amazon Warriors on Wednesday in Guyana.
“We have to go back to the drawing board and see how well we can actually come back as a group… we’ll actually bounce back strong,” Gayle said.
The defending champions Tridents lead the preliminary standings with 10 points from eight games, while second-placed St Kitts & Nevis Patriots have eight points from nine matches.
The third-placed Tallawahs, who trail the Patriots due to an inferior run-rate, have eight points from eight games, while St Lucia Zouks are fourth with seven points from eight games.
Fifth-placed Guyana Amazon Warriors have six points from six outings and Trinidad & Tobago Red Steel occupy last spot with five.
The top franchise at the end of the 10 preliminary round games will automatically advance to the 2015 final.
The third- and fourth-placed teams will contest an eliminator game, and the winner of that encounter will battle the second-placed side for the right to play in the Caribbean Premier League title decider.
