CONCACAF Gold Cup: Reggae Boyz lead USA 2-0 at half-time
ATLANTA, Georgia – After 45 minutes of play, Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz have made a fantastic start to their CONCACAF Gold Cup semi-final game against the USA on Wednesday, leading the defending champions 2-0 at the break.
Vancouver Whitecaps’ Darren Mattocks opened the scoring in the 30th minute, while Houston Dynamo’s Giles Barnes added a second six minutes later with a superb free kick from 20 yards.
Jamaica, who started a little jittery, came to bloom after soaking up a spell of US bombardment and ended the half the better team.
A win for Jamaica would be historic as it would put them in their first final and it would also be their first victory over the USA on home soil.
