Hensley’s Summa Escape
CANADA-BASED recording label Konsequence Muzik is upbeat about the progress of their rhythm called Summa Escape Volume 1.
“This has been our most successful project so far. The single Summer Love, recorded by Lady Saw, is doing really well. She has been doing a lot of promotion on the single, and to have a Grammy-winning artiste on the project is an excellent boost,” said the label’s CEO, Tristmar ‘Trizo’ Hensley.
Released in June, Summa Escape compilation also features Beenie Man’s Anything You Want, Konshens’ Never Leave God and I Octane’s Party Fans.
In describing his project, Hensley said Summa Escape rhythm has a melodic, sexy and fun vibe to it; one that comes with the summer season. The rhythm can also be used for commercials throughout the summer and after because of the mellow and high-pitch instruments that combined to build it.
Summa Escape Volume 2 was released in July and features Mavado’s My Love, Khago’s A Love Save Me, and New Kidz’ Summer Time.
Konsequence started out in 2008 as a sound system in Alberta, Canada. But the producer said his interest didn’t only lie in the sound system.
“I have always had an interest in the production side. So in 2013 I decided to launch Konsequence Muzik, and with the help of popular producer Supa Blunt I released my first project titled Kurfew Riddim in 2014,” he said.
Among those featured on his debut production was Jahvinchi, Esco Levi, Kibaki and Melloquence. Other singles that followed included Gyptian’s Addicted to You
Love and Guidance’s Shotta.
The producer told Splash that the operation of his record label comes with its share of challenges and setbacks.
“Being a new label and sometimes the artistes don’t take us seriously, and getting the street selectors and disc jockeys to play our materials can be a hurdle,” he said.
Despite the challenges, Hensley said he and his team are moving full speed ahead with the construction of a recording studio which is slated for a September opening.
Hensley, 32, was born in Meadsfields District in Manchester, but later migrated to Alberta, Canada at age 11.
