Ricardo Chambers preparing to head to World Champs
KINGSTON, Jamaica – After receiving a late call-up from the Jamaica Administrative Athletics Association (JAAA) Thursday, quarter-miler Ricardo Chambers is now making arrangements to join the Jamaica’s World Championship team in Beijing, China.
Based in Florida, United States, Chambers told OBSERVER ONLINE early Friday that he was on his way to Jamaica to have his visa dealt with.
Chambers, who finished third at the Senior Championship but was disqualified, was initially left out of the original 53-member squad that was announced on Monday.
His disqualification from the race was as a result of a lane violation.
Chambers admitted to OBSERVER ONLINE that he was disappointed, but was even more determined after the mishap.
“I was disappointed but the rules are the rules, so I understand and accept what happened,” he said. “I went back into training with more determination.”
It was no doubt that after being disqualified, Chambers managed to achieve his seasonal best time.
“It’s a great milestone achievement for me after battling injuries for over three years. I’m just glad I’m back in the 44 seconds again.”
The quarter-miler said it was a great step towards Rio 2016.
