KINGSTON, Jamaica – Opposition spokesperson on Sports, Information, Gender Affairs, Culture and Entertainment, Olivia “Babsy” Grange, has congratulated the Jamaica Paralympic team on their performance at the recently concluded Para Panam Games in Toronto, Canada.

“With a total of five medals, I want to welcome the team back today and congratulate them on a heart-warming performance. They have done exceptionally well and they are truly an inspiration to all Jamaica,” Grange said.

She added: “I also want to congratulate the coaches, administrative and support teams. Christopher Samuda should take pride in the fact that their hard work and dedication have manifested into them winning these medals – two silver, two gold and a bronze. I am proud of them.”

In a press release Monday, Grange also remained steadfast in her support of the Sunshine Girls, despite their 66-44 defeat to England in the bronze-medal match at the Netball World Cup in Sydney, Australia, yesterday.

“As would be expected, we are disappointed that the Girls were not able to secure victory. However, we must show them our continuing love and support for reaching thus far in the competition and recognise the hard work they always put into preparing for these competitions,” Grange charged.

“Marva Bernard, your spirit and energy is unsurpassed. I know that as they continue to strive to do their best they will grow from strength to strength,” Grange said.
