Latin America and Asia ministers gathering in Costa Rica
SAN JOSE, Costa Rica (AFP) — Foreign ministers and their deputies from several dozen countries in Latin America and East Asia are gathering in Costa Rica to discuss a broad agenda of economic and cultural initiatives.
Costa Rican Foreign Minister Manuel Gonzalez touted Monday the opportunity at the meeting to boost cross-border economic programmess, including private investment and trade, through “ambitious action.”
The Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation meets starting Tuesday and will run until Friday.
Gonzalez said financial agencies from both regions have also been invited to help prompt possible projects.
Most Latin American countries plus Cuba and the Dominican Republic are part of the forum as well as Asian countries including Japan, Singapore, Thailand and Australia.
