Dancehall, gospel acts for Pan X
A mix of dancehall and gospel music acts will be served to patrons attending this Saturday’s staging of the Pan X at the UDC car park across from the Portmore Mall in St Catherine.
Pan X is the 10th anniversary of the popular CB Pan Chicken Championship.
Dancehall artistes Ding Dong and Agent Sasco (aka Assassin) and gospel artiste Goddy Goddy are listed among the event’s entertainment package.
Alicia Bogues, brand manager of CB Chicken and Bad Dawg Sausages, explained how the event has evolved over the 10 years.
“The late Minister of Agriculture Roger Clarke challenged us saying it’s a great event and that we should expand. We decided to take the event across the island so that persons been can experience it. It has always and will always be free to the public,” said Miss Bogues.
The CB Pan Chicken Championship sees Pan Chicken men and women from across the island battling for bragging rights, prizes, trophies and cash prizes.
“We invest into these pan chicken men and women so they can enhance their skills. Apart from cash prizes and gifts from the various sponsors, we have partnered with Jamaica National to provide business grants to the winners so they can expand on their business. Each year, we are challenged to offer more to the participants and also the patrons,” Bogues added.
There are 35 competitors for this Saturday’s event representing the parishes of Kingston and St Andrew, St Catherine, Manchester, Clarendon, Portland, St Thomas and St Mary.
A $40,000 cash praise will be awarded to the first place winner, while the second-place winner will take home $20,000. Winners will advance to the grand finals set for November at the Waterfront in downtown Kingston.
Emcees for Pan X are Dufton Shepherd and Boasy Boy Floyd.
