Veteran educator Evelyn Tugwell receives the Anglin Jones Award from immediate past president of the Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA) Doran Dixon during the 51st Annual Conference Awards Ceremony held at the Hilton Rose Hall Resort and Spa in Rose Hall, St James on Tuesday. Two other members of the JTA, Adolph Cameron and Patrick Smith, were also presented with the Anglin Jones Award, which is reserved for retired JTA employees. Tugwell joined the JTA in 1970 during her internship at Green Island Secondary High School in Hanover. She later taught at her alma mater, Mount Zion Primary School, in St James, where she served as principal for a number of years. Tugwell retired from the JTA staff this month, after joining the organisation in September 1995. She has served as regional officer west at the JTA for 20 years. (PHOTO: PHILP LEMONTE)
