JTA head concerned about pension plan
NEWLY installed President of the Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA) Norman Allen has expressed concerns about the proposed pension reform arrangement in which public school teachers will contribute for the first time, starting April 2016.
Allen bemoaned that the proposed payment, which will be levied on teachers, is too onerous and should be reconsidered.
He was speaking this week at the investiture session of the 51st annual conference of the Jamaica Teachers Association at the Hilton Rose Hall Resort and Spa in Montego Bay, St James.
The JTA president said, too that teachers have been placed at a disadvantage in light of the wage offer from the government.
