Geego salutes independent women
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Deejay Geego reaches out to the independent woman on Miss Independence, which he recorded for Majah Label Music Group.
He spoke to OBSERVER ONLINE about the importance of such a song.
“The ladies get a bad rap sometimes for depending on men too much. This is a song for the women who stand up for themselves,” he said.
Miss Independence is on the Rub Up Rub Up ‘riddim’.
Geego (Anthony Garth Swaby) is originally from Rollington Town in east Kingston, but has lived in Hartford, Connecticut since the late 1980s.
Most of his songs, like Nah Walk Inna Crowd and Over and Over Again, are produced by the Chris Knight Music Group out of Fort Lauderdale and Major Label, based in Kingston.
